About us

Tony Franks worked for John Cooper Garages for 25 years, overseeing the special limited edition classic Mini's with John Cooper and involved in the John Cooper Works engineering for new MINI with Mike Cooper. He was also a prime mover behind the MINI Challenge race series. When the Cooper family decided to shut their workshop activities it was an easy decision for Tony to continue to continue to use his vast Mini knowledge and experience to establish this Mini specialist business.

MINI Motorsport was initially formed to supply engineering support for the MINI Challenge championship, but Tony's classic Mini customers tracked him down and so began another chapter.

He and his team have been servicing, repairing, renovating & rebuilding classic Mini's ever since. Part of the joy and challenge of Mini is that every car, whilst basically the same shape, is completely individual.

In the new MINI world as every iteration of new MINI seems to get larger there has been a trend for drivers to come back to the early supercharged R53 Cooper S, for the driving experience, that supercharger whine, and direct handling. Tony and his team have been refreshing & rebuilding cars to individual customer specifications with stunning results.
